New release: The Husbands

By Holly Gramazio

When a drunk Lauren returns to her London flat following a night out, she finds a man there. She's single…or at least she thought she was. The man, Michael, claims to be her husband. Everything checks out: photos on her phone, tick, friends love him, tick. But she's never met him before in her life.

Whilst Lauren tries to piece together how she's married to a man she does not rememeber, Michael goes to change a lightbulb in the attic…he never returns. In his place, a new man spawns, and a new life builds around Lauren. Realising that her attic is spawning a seemingly infinite string of husbands, Lauren is faced with the age old question: when do you know that you've found the right one?

In the age of Tinder, Hinge, and a sea of seemingly endless options of fish, how do you know when you're happy enough to stop looking, and start living? Holly Gramazio hilariously grapples with this timeless concept. She does so in a modern, gaming-influenced way. The idea of men ‘spawning’ is magical realism at its funniest, but is also not that far from the left-and-right-swiping reality we live in.

This is a witty, vivid, and unique rom-com that will have you hooked from the first page. Having used dating apps myself, this book and it's paradoxical concept was strangely comforting; we all wonder what if, and we all face questions about commitment. With charmimg candour, Gramazio uses game theory to show how difficult (and entertaining) making decisions in modern dating can be.

I had the absolute pleasure of attending an early influencer event for The Husbands, and met Holly Gramazio herself. She is as lovely as she is funny, and I can't wait to see what she does next.

Thank you Penguin Vintage for this gorgeous hardback finished copy!

The Husbands is out in the UK on 4th April 2024!
